Challenge

Create a series of logos for a made up company(lettermark, wordmark, emblem, abstract, and lockup). Design a cohesive set of stationary that coincides with the logo, as well as a style guide for the logo itself. Create a deck that contains the designed exterior and interior of the company, as well as the company uniform, branded vehicle, and shopping bag. Animate a 15-second commercial that advertises the company.

Process

I created a word map to spark inspiration for the logos and then did some sketching and eventually finalizing. After creating the final options for the 5 types of logo, I landed on using lettermark and created the style guide for it. I then began conceptualizing and finalizing the stationary. I then scouted out potential buildings for the business and came upon an empty building in downtown Cedarburg, Wisconsin. I took pictures of the exterior and interior to use as a blueprint in Illustrator. I then brainstormed ideas for the merchandise and branding aspects of the company, which I then created mockups for. I then storyboarded, searched for music, animated the advertisement.

Solution

A completely cohesive concept for a business from start to finish. The idea for the word mark was a record needle, the abstract is a shelf of vinyl records, the emblem is a  vinyl record cover, and the lettermark is a record sliding out of a sleeve. The concept of the business card was a record sleeve containing a circular piece of recycled vinyl with white text on it. The cover letter used the abstract logo on the top and bottom and is an odd shape so that, when folded, it fits into the envelope. The envelope is square like a record sleeve and the flap mimics the record in the logo. The building has bright colors and a bold modern look that makes it stand out against the streets of downtown Cedarburg. There is a fully conceptualized exterior and interior, as well as uniform, delivery van, and shopping bag.
